Beautiful Bavarian sugar and creamer set with roses. This lovely porcelain set is referred to as the double-ring or wedding ring mold. Both pieces of the set are expertly hand painted with lovely pink and white roses and greenery on a ground of soft pastels in shades of pink blush, pale blue, peach, mint green, and white. The roses have raised enamel highlights in their centers. The rims, double-ring handles and finial are decorated with rich gold gilding that is in excellent condition, with minor wear noted to the double-rings on the creamer. The artist, M. Jorgesen, has signed the bottom of both pieces. Both pieces are marked, Favorite Bavaria, circa early 1900's. The sugar bowl stands 5" tall to the top of the finial and measures 5 ¾" from handle to handle. The creamer stands 3 ¼" tall to the top of the handle and measures 4 ¾" from spout to handle. The only imperfection noted is a small chip (measuring 1/8") on the underside of the sugar lid's collar (the part of the lid that fits down into the sugar bowl). It appears to be underglaze and is probably original to the piece. It is not visible when the lid is in place. Please refer to the photo to view the chip. To view a sugar shaker hand painted by the same artist, please refer to SHA-1032 in our inventory. |
