Handsome Limoges game plate with pheasant. This plate is hand painted with a colorful pheasant on a ground of creamy yellow, salmon, and milk chocolate brown. The scalloped and beaded rim of the plate is decorated with gold gilding that shows some wear on the outer rim edge. The signature of the French factory artist appears on the plate but is difficult to read (please see the photo). The plate measures 8 ¾" in diameter and is double marked with the Limoges, France, underglaze white ware mark used after 1891, as well as the George Borgfeldt (Coronet) overglaze decorating mark in green, circa 1906-1920. With no chips, cracks, or repairs, this antique plate is in excellent condition. |
