Handsome Limoges cider pitcher with apples. This colorful pitcher is expertly hand painted with rusty red apples and fall foliage on a ground of chocolate brown, rich caramel, creamy ivory, and deep sienna. The rim and thick handle are decorated with rich gold gilding that is in excellent condition. French factory artist, J. Marsay, has signed the pitcher. Noted are two surface scratches, one directly below the artist's signature, and a second about one inch below the signature. Neither distracts from the beauty of the piece. Please see the photo. The pitcher is marked with the Blakeman and Henderson overglaze exporting mark in green, circa early 1900's. It stands 6" tall and measures 8" from handle to spout. With no chips, cracks, or restoration, this beautiful antique cider pitcher is in excellent condition. |
