Gorgeous Limoges cider pitcher with apples. This handsome cider pitcher is hand painted with a branch of red apples and fall foliage on a ground of deep sienna, burgundy, amber, and ivory. Listed French factory artist, J. Marsay, has signed the pitcher near the handle. The rich gold gilding on the handle and rim of the pitcher has two minute spots of wear, one on the handle where the thumb would rest and one on the rim near the spout. These are very tiny and do not take away from the beauty of the pitcher. The pitcher is marked with the Blakeman and Henderson overglaze exporting mark in green, circa early 1900's. It measures 8" from spout to handle and stands 6" tall at the rim. This outstanding antique cider pitcher is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. |
