Beautiful Limoges clover-shaped dish with open handle. This lovely bowl features a gracefully scalloped rim with an elevated relief edge and an ornate open handle. The dish is hand painted with large pink roses and foliage on a background of sky blue and varying shades of green. The rim and handle of the bowl are decorated with rich gold gilding that is in excellent condition. There are two small rubs to the green painted surface, near one of the pink rose petals. These small rubs do not in any way detract from the beauty of the piece. The dish is signed by listed French factory artist, A. Broussillon. It is marked with the Limoges, France, crescent shaped underglaze white ware mark in green, used after 1891, and the Lewis Straus & Sons overglaze exporting mark in red, circa 1890's-mid 1920's. The dish measures 9 ½" long, 9" wide, and stands 2" tall at the handle. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. |
