Lovely Limoges factory-decorated chocolate pot. This beautifully shaped chocolate pot features a scalloped foot, scalloped mouth opening, and very ornate handle and finial. It is transfer decorated with garlands of pale pink carnations and greenery on a white background. The rims, handle, and finial are decorated with sponged gold gilding that is in excellent condition. The chocolate pot stands 9 ½" tall and measures 5" in diameter at its widest point. It is double marked with the Elite Works underglaze white ware mark in green, used after 1900, along with the overglaze decorating mark in red from the same French factory. This charming antique chocolate pot is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. However, it does have two manufacturer's flaws or separations in the porcelain. One separation is on the underside of the foot of the pot. The second separation is located on the neck of the lid. Please refer to the photos to view these two imperfections in the porcelain. Neither flaw detracts from the beauty of the piece. |
