Gorgeous Limoges charger with morning glories. This charger is expertly hand painted with soft pink and white morning glories and foliage on a ground of varying greens, ivory, and pink blush. The ornate and sculpted rim is decorated with vibrant gold gilding that is in very good condition with slight wear noted to the high points of the rim. Also noted is a ¼" scratch in the green paint near the rim. Please see the photo. Listed French-factory artist, J. Marsay, has signed the charger near one of the flowers. The charger measures 12" in diameter and is 1 ¾" deep. It is triple marked with the Limoges, France, underglaze white ware mark in green, used after 1891, the Blakeman and Henderson overglaze exporting mark in gray, circa early 1900's, and the Buehrle Bros (Youngstown, O.) importing mark in red. With no chips, cracks, or restoration, this beautiful charger is in excellent condition. |
